- 03No. Patients can receive physical therapy for 12 sessions or 45 calendar days, whichever occurs first, without a physician referral. After this period, California law requires the patient to have an in-person examination by a physician. Some insurers may require a physican referral in order for reimbursement. Acupuncture does not require a physician referral.
- 04Synergy is an out-of-network provider and does not directly bill insurance. Payment is required at the time of service and a reciept will be provided for clients wishing to submit a claim for reimbursement. Please refer to our pricing page for more information.

- 06Synergy specializes in treating all types of orthopaedic conditions that cause pain, limit mobility, and effect performance with a blend of physical therapy and acupuncture. In addition to musculoskeletal injuries, acupuncture treats a broader range of conditions that can impact health and performance, such as chronic pain, gastrointestinal disorders, respiratory disorders, insomnia, and anxiety. If you are unsure if we are the right clinic for you,
- 07Synergy uses a convenient online scheduler that allows patients to schedule or modify appointments. Synergy has a 24-hour cancelation policy. All appointments cancelled with less than 24-hours notice are subject to a cancellation fee. Last minute cancellations do not allow Synergy to schedule other patients into those available times, so please make every effort to provide us with as much notice as possible if you need to change your appointment.
- 08Acupuncture needles are safe and sterile. Synergy uses needles that are stainless steel, single use, and disposable. The needles are very thin (.16 - .30 mm), filiform (solid), and highly flexible. All Synergy treatments are administered in compliance with the rigorous standards prescribed by the California Acupuncture Board.
- 09For most people, acupuncture needling is pain free. Although many patients feel no pain with needling, others may feel brief discomfort during needle insertion. Once the needle is inserted, some patients may experience a mild dull ache. Many patients sense a movement of energy between needle points or throughout their body and an overall sense of relaxation.
- 10Acupuncture has minimal side effects and is a safe and effective treatment. Once needles are removed, there is often no visible evidence of treatment. However, there is a slight risk of minor swelling, bruising, and bleeding at the site of insertion. Light-headedness may also occur during or shortly after treatment. These conditions are easily managed and are not a cause for concern or an indication of injury.
